Drinking Coffee has become a part of the daily routine for most people, no matter whether, they are young or old. You can prepare coffee in different styles, but the use of a coffee bean grinder is still the best method to get that fresh coffee. Quality coffee grinders are essential equipment to any coffee lover's kitchen. Grinding coffee beans just before brewing ensures the freshest flavor and produces a wonderful aroma to enjoy during preparation.
Coffee grinders have an important place in the coffee process, starting from the sorting/grading, then the roasting, followed by the grinding and lastly the brewing; the grinding affects how your final cup would be. This is because different brewing method demand different types of coffee grinds, and these different grinds also require varying length of time to brew
There are basically 3 types of coffee grinders available in the market today. They are:
-
Blade Coffee Grinders: One of the most inexpensive grinders in the market, are not at all suited for espresso, as its chopping method, cannot achieve the consistency needed. Even the coarse and medium grinds vary widely and are not consistent at all. They create an enormous amount of friction which actually burns the beans giving the coffee an undesirable taste.
-
Burr Grinders (Flat Wheel): Most suited method of grinding coffee, works by crushing the beans between one spinning and one stationary, semi-concave disk. It spins more slowly than a blade grinder, generating less friction and creates a much more consistent grind.
-
Burr Grinders (Conical): Regarded as the best of all the grinders, make use of a conical shaped grinding surface. They have the most consistent grind, and also spin even slower creating less friction and less static electricity which causes the coffee to stick in the crevices of the grinder making it harder to clean.
